My Vegetable Garden

I used to have a substantial vegetable garden. Then I let it fall to ruin. But lately I've cleared away the weeds and started again.
Some of the weeds removed. Basil in forground will be retained.

More weeds.

The same garden bed with weeds removed. Now we are getting somewhere!
A long section of bed was partitioned. About three inches of topsoil was removed, then compost poured in.

Rich black compost!

Into this compost was planted Cos lettuce seedlings. The planting was carried out on a mild overcast day, with light rain all day. Perfect for reducing the shock of transplantation. Then a light watering.

The final stage - a dressing of pea straw mulch. Then a good soaking with lots of water. Now comes the hard part - keeping them watered and pest free.

Our Christmas Holiday

This Christmas we headed west to rural Victoria, then our New Year holiday was in Adelaide, S.A. We stayed in a Glenelg apartment five minutes from the ocean.

Glenelg
I love to take pictures of the sky, and here are some sunsets taken from Glenelg beach:

While in Adelaide we attended a 20 Twenty Cricket match between England and Australia. England needed one run fom the last ball of the game to win. Of course England won!!  Some photos of the sun setting behind the Adelaide Oval. Lovely:

I prefer Test Cricket, but this fixture was all we could attend at this time. Exciting, though, if a little too noisy for my tastes.

Hope you all like my pics. Stay tuned!!!

No Sauce in Herring Hell

I opened a can of John West "Herring Fillets in Tomato Sauce" this morning, only to find the herring was sauceless!! No sauce!! Unsatisfactory. This is the second such can in the past week. I took a photo:

London Sculpture

I wanted to show some more London photos. It seems the link here is public sculpture, of which London is overflowing. Everywhere you look, there is some piece of sculpture or monument.
